What a Shopify migration costs, and what moves the price
The short answer
DopaShift migrations start at $12,000 for a standard Magento 2 store; WooCommerce stores usually cost less. The price is driven by catalog size and variant complexity, whether the theme is custom, how many extensions need app replacements, B2B, ERP and other integrations, data cleanup and content volume. After launch you pay Shopify's plan fee on top, from the Basic plan up to Shopify Plus, which starts at $2,300 a month on a three-year term.
The one number, and why it’s a starting point
DopaShift migrations start at $12,000 for a standard Magento 2 store; WooCommerce stores usually cost less. Every quote we give is a fixed price for a written scope, and this guide explains what moves that price up or down so you can see where your store sits before you ask.
For context, ECommerce Partners published market planning ranges in August 2026 of $5,000 to $20,000 for a small, straightforward store, $20,000 to $60,000 for mid-market, and $60,000 to $150,000 or more for enterprise and B2B projects. They describe those as planning ranges, not a price list, and we’d say the same about any number you read before someone has looked at your store.
What moves the price
Eight things decide most of the cost. None of them is the number of products on its own.
| Driver | Cheap end | Expensive end |
|---|---|---|
| Catalog and variants | Clean data, three or fewer options per product | Configurable products beyond Shopify’s three options or 2,048 variants |
| Theme | A Shopify theme with brand styling | A custom theme rebuilt from a bespoke design |
| Extensions to apps | Native Shopify settings cover the features | Twenty extensions, several with no app equivalent |
| B2B | Retail only | Company accounts, price lists, net terms, quotes |
| Integrations | Email and accounting via app store connectors | ERP, PIM, WMS or 3PL needing custom middleware |
| Data cleanup | Exports import as they are | Duplicate SKUs, broken images, attributes to normalize |
| Content | A few pages and a blog | Hundreds of landing pages with custom layouts |
| SEO scope | Same domain, clean URL map | Domain change, years of legacy URLs, filter pages that ranked |
SKU count and variants
Product count matters less than people expect. Migrating 500 clean products and 5,000 clean products costs about the same because the import is scripted. What costs money is structure. Shopify allows up to 2,048 variants per product and up to three options, so a configurable product with four option dimensions has to be split or handled with a bundle app, and someone has to decide how, product by product.
Custom attributes are the other cost. A Magento store with forty attributes used across the catalog needs each one mapped to a Shopify field or metafield and surfaced in the theme. The work is in the mapping, not the row count.
A custom theme
A Shopify theme set up with your logo, colors and type is the cheap path and is right for most stores. A custom theme built from a design file is the expensive path, and the cost scales with the number of unique page templates. If your current site’s design is the brand, budget for the rebuild. If customers come for the products, start with a theme and spend the difference on content.
Apps replacing extensions
Every extension on the old store needs a decision: replaced by a Shopify setting, replaced by an app, or dropped. Extensions with no app equivalent need custom work, and that is where surprises live. We ask for the extension list before we quote for exactly this reason.
B2B
Shopify says B2B is available on the Basic, Grow, Advanced and Shopify Plus plans, so B2B no longer forces a Plus plan by itself. What raises the price is the data: company accounts, contacts, price lists, payment terms and catalog visibility rules all have to be rebuilt and tested with real customers before launch.
Integrations
An email tool and an accounting package usually connect through app store connectors. An ERP, PIM, WMS or 3PL that was wired to the old platform with custom code needs new middleware, and that is a project inside the project. If you have one of these, expect it to be the largest single line in the quote.
Data cleanup and content
Clean exports import as they are. Duplicate SKUs, missing images, inconsistent attribute values and products with no category all need a decision before import, and if we have to make the decisions the hours go on the quote. Content is similar: a blog and ten pages move quickly, while hundreds of landing pages with custom layouts need templates built and content placed by hand.

Get a scoped priceWhat Shopify costs after launch
The migration is a one-time cost. The platform is a monthly one, and it is usually lower than what a self-hosted Magento store paid in hosting, patching and developer retainers.
Plan prices
Shopify sells three standard plans, Basic, Grow and Advanced, billed monthly with a lower rate on annual billing. The current US figures are on shopify.com/pricing. Payment processing rates differ by plan and sit on top of the subscription.
Shopify Plus
Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a three-year term, or $2,500 a month on a one-year term, for what Shopify calls standard setups and integrations. Shopify says more complex, higher volume businesses switch to a variable platform fee based on revenue and business model, and it doesn’t publish the percentage, so that number comes from a sales conversation. Plus includes a main store and nine expansion stores, with extra stores at $300 a month each or a revenue share.
Plus pays for itself when your volume is high enough that lower processing rates and the variable fee cost less than Advanced plus its rates, or when you need expansion stores and the higher redirect limit. We’ll run that calculation with your numbers when we quote.
Apps
Apps are the cost people forget. A typical store runs reviews, email, subscriptions or bundles, search, and a few utilities. Each one bills monthly, and some scale with order volume. Before you move, price every app that replaces an extension and compare the total with the extension license and maintenance fees you pay now. In our experience the totals are close, and the difference is that apps update themselves.
Taxes and payments
Shopify Tax is free to use until your store reaches $100,000 USD in sales in a single calendar year for stores created before May 13, 2026, after which there’s a fee of 0.35% on US orders where tax is collected on Basic, Grow and Advanced, and 0.25% on Plus, capped at $0.99 per order and $5,000 per year. Stores created on or after May 13, 2026 use a lifetime threshold of $100,000 instead. If you use a tax service today, compare its bill with that.
Check the pricing page before you budget
Shopify changes plan names and prices. The figures above are what shopify.com/pricing showed in October 2026 for US stores. Confirm them on the day you sign.
How to get a fixed, scoped price
A migration quote is only as good as what the agency looked at. Here is what we need to give you a fixed price, and what any agency should ask for.
A product export with attributes and images, so we can see variant structure and data quality. The extension or plugin list, so we can mark each one replace, drop or rebuild. A list of integrations with what moves in each direction. Your Search Console export, so we can size the redirect work. A note on B2B, wholesale or multi-storefront needs. And the design brief: existing theme, new theme, or custom.
With those, we return a written scope that lists what’s in, what’s out, the plan we recommend, the apps we’d install with their monthly cost, and a fixed price. If something comes up during the build that isn’t in the scope, it’s a change request with its own price, not a surprise on the final invoice.
That’s the test for any quote you receive. If it doesn’t name the apps, the plan and the redirect approach, it isn’t a scoped price yet.
Frequently asked questions
What does a Shopify migration cost?
DopaShift migrations start at $12,000 for a standard Magento 2 store; WooCommerce stores usually cost less. ECommerce Partners published planning ranges in August 2026 of $5,000 to $20,000 for a simple store, $20,000 to $60,000 for mid-market and $60,000 to $150,000 or more for enterprise and B2B.
Does the number of products change the price much?
Less than people expect. 500 clean products and 5,000 clean products cost about the same to migrate because the work is scripted. What costs money is messy data, products with more than three options, and attributes that need custom fields.
What will Shopify cost me each month after the move?
Shopify's three standard plans, Basic, Grow and Advanced, are billed monthly with a lower rate on annual billing, and the current US figures are on shopify.com/pricing. Shopify Plus starts at $2,300 a month on a three-year term or $2,500 on a one-year term. Add your apps and payment processing on top.
Do I need Shopify Plus?
Not for B2B alone, since Shopify says B2B is available on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus. You need Plus for more than the standard redirect limit, for expansion stores, and when your volume makes the Plus fee cheaper than a standard plan plus its processing rates.
